Light Well
This remodel of a 1980’s downtown Boulder condo created a beautifully skylit live-work space. The stairway now occupies what was a series of enclosed light shafts and becomes the organizing element of the space. It is lined with translucent panels to allow light to filter down into the adjacent spaces.
Dark wood ceiling beams and decking were painted white and the sunken sitting room was raised to the same height as the kitchen to allow for a more flexible space with more comfortable proportions.
The free-standing shower enclosure is curved and lined with glass tile so that no shower doors are required.
